Cutting Costs
 True Blue PPO is a preferred
provider organization (PPO) offered by Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield. True
Blue PPO assists employers in controlling health care costs by offering a network
of doctors and hospitals who have agreed to discount their fees. More than 5,400
health professionals and 91 hospitals participate in the True Blue PPO network.

Simply put, True Blue PPO obtains price discounts from providers, which are then
passed along to employers and employees. Patients retain their choice of health-care
providers, with built-in incentives for choosing providers within the network.
Freedom of Choice
Members may choose any health-care provider they wish from within the statewide
network and receive the benefit of the negotiated fee discounts. Members are responsible
for paying an annual deductible, along with a prescribed percentage of the True
Blue PPO allowed amount.
Members who choose a provider outside the network are responsible for a greater
percentage (also predetermined) of the allowed amount. For example, if a member
usually pays 20 percent of the allowed amount for in-network services, he or she
might be required to pay 40 percent of the allowed amount for out-of-network services.
Also, if out-of-network is chosen, the member may be responsible for balance billing
by the provider.
